Winter Sport Fun

What a fabulous afternoon! The sun came out just in time for everyone in the Junior School to get out and try some winter games. The children were all involved in rippa rugby, netball, scoccer and hockey. The children were all coached by some outstanding senior children. Everyone had fun and I am sure picked up a few new skills along the way.

Soccer gave everyone a chance to have a go.........

though there were some tumbles along the way.

Rippa rugby was a big hit and everyone managed
to collect a flag.

Hockey gave everyone a chance to show off all the great
skills they had learnt during the hockey sessions this term.

Everyone enjoyed the netball and there were many
children showing some great ball skills.

Winter Poems

Performances

It was a busy week for all the children in the junior choir and junior dance group. They performed in a concert along with all the senior classes and other dance and jazz groups.  The choir sounded fantastic and they looked very cute.  The dance group had been practising hard and their performance was wonderful.
Room 10 was also invited to middle school team time to present them with a decorated worm bucket and some posters.

Technology

The children in Room 10 wanted to design a system that would encourage everyone at school to put their food scraps into the worm buckets and reduce the amount of rubbish.
Problem: How can we get the children to put the right food scraps into the worm bucket?
First, we needed to find out what worms like to eat.
Next we decided we would stick some pictures on the bucket of the foods the worms like to eat.
Problem: We needed to find a way to stick the pictures to the buckets.
We tested lots of different materials to find which one would hold a picture on.
We left the buckets outside for a week in the sun, rain and wind.
We found that insulation tape worked the best.
We covered the bucket with pictures then covered the bucket with sticky plastic and taped it all on with insulation tape.  We hope this will work!  We will check the buckets after a few weeks to see how well the insulation  has worked.
Finally we presented our finding in our Junior Assembly.
We made posters to help remind everyone to put the correct scraps in the worm buckets.

Snow Day

What a day! All the snow! What excitement for all the brave children who came to school today. We had a great time playing in the snow, having snow ball fights and building snowmen.
